To address the Rejection of Indian Consignments of shrimps in European and American ports due to presence of antibiotic residues, the Coastal Aquaculture Authority of India (CAA), in 2015, commenced registering coastal aquaculture inputs under eight categories once the samples were certified by the NABL accredited laboratories to be free of banned antibiotics.
So far, the Authority has registered around 2000 products. Shrimp farmers and hatcheries operators CAA registered products for their operational needs. The registration, which is currently a Voluntary process, is to be made mandatory soon. Presently, the list of CAA approved aquaculture inputs is posted in the Authority website as pdf documents. In order to make the task of checking whether a product is registered or not easier, CAA developed a webpage link in its website for searching the database on coastal aquaculture inputs.
