Traning Programme on “Shrimp Disease Diagnosis and Disease Surveillance” To field technicians, PG Students and MPFEAs from 8-3-2017 to 10-3-2017 at State Institute of Fisheries Technology (SIFT) ,Kakinada.
A 3 day training programme on “Shrimp Disease Diagnosis and Disease Surveillance” for technicians, PG students and Multi-Purpose Extension Officers of the Department of Fisheries, has been held at State Institute of Fisheries Technology, Kakinada. This programme is conducted under National Surveillance Programmme for Aquatic Animal Diseases (NSPAAD) sponsored by NBFGR, Lucknow.
The main motto of the programme is to build awareness among the trainees about disease diagnostic tools, collection of samples and disease surveillance programme in order to chalk out future course of action on emerging shrimp diseases.
A total no.of 28 persons were given exposure to different existing and emerging diseases and how to go about disease surveillance(Both Active and Passive Surveillance)
On the first day of the programme, the trainees were exposed different vannamei diseases and disease diagnostic tools.
On the second day, trainees in water analysis and microbiology lab.
On the third and final day, trainees were provided Demo on PCR and disease surveillance programmes in relation to emerging diseases like EMS and IMNV.
Sri.K.Sita Rama Raju, Principal, SIFT has monitored the training programme. Dr.P.Ram Mohan Rao, Principal Investigator of the Project from AP Fisheries Department and Dr.T. Vijaya Bharathi, Co-Principal Investigator and the two Senior Research fellows have provided the demo, hands-on training .
Feedback and evaluation of the training programme has been done and all the trainees expressed their usefulness of the programme and are willing to lend a helping hand to disease reporting to the State Institute of Fisheries Technology, Kakinada. A training manual and certificates were issued to the trainees after completion of the training.
