CCIFA Conducts Training for Traibal Fisherfolk

The Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA), Bhubaneswar in collaboration with the State Fisheries Department, Ganjam Zone conducted a four day long training programme (13-16 August, 2018) on FRP Carp Hatchery Operation for the benefit of tribal fisherfolk. The training was conducted in two villages, viz., Ambapur Village of Digapahandi Block and Daseipur Village of Sanakhemundi Block, Ganjam District, Odisha. The programme was conducted under the Tribal Sub Plan Project, entitled ‘Carp seed production and integrated fish farming technology for livelihood development of Phailin (Cyclone) affected tribal farmers of Ganjam District, Odisha’. About 120 tibal beneficiaries participated in the training, of which majority (80%) were women. The training sensitized the tribal fish farmers on FRP carp hatchery operation; seed prodiction; brood fish selecton; administration of inducing agents to fish; spawn collection, etc.
