Kemin India Launches HydroSORB In Aquaculture Segment

Pond water quality plays a major role in maintaining the healthy aquatic environment. This is generally affected by the cloud or hazy colour of water that restricts light penetration limiting photosynthesis. The Penetration of light decreases in unclear water and reduces transparency. It is caused by suspended solids such as silt, clay, or organic matter namely algae, plankton and decaying materials. Kemin Industries, a global nutritional ingredient company that uses science to create solutions and products by touching world’s population launched HYdroSORB an unique combination of silicates with plant extracts to improve the water clarity by increasing the light penetration and controlling the algal bloom in aquaculture ponds.

HydroSORB was launched in three consecutive coastal AP market Kakinada, Ongole and Nellore in India. The Product was unveiled Mr.Kanna.R, Director Marketing & Aqua sales Kemin South Asia, Dr.M.Rajelakshmi, Senior Scientist, Kemin South Asia, Dr. Chandran, National Sales Manager Aqua, Kemin South Asia Ms.Priya Bhatt, Associate Product Manager Aqua along with Ms.Ning Shinny Widjaja, Aqua Business Manger, Kemin Asia Pacific.

Speaking at the Launch MR. Kannan. R said “Kemin is committed in providing the best global solutions for local need, this groundbreaking product is a blend of silicates to reduce the level of suspended particles and other causative agents which causes foul odour in pond and increases the water transparency by optimising the Phytoplankton growth and also consolidating the pond bottom, we had invited Ms.Ning from our Asia Pacific Business Unit to tour along with us by sharing her expertise knowledge with the customers”

The product launch was followed by an engaging session on sciences of tecto silicates and how HydroSORB works well in regulating the water transperency

Ms.Ning Shinny Widjaja, spoke on her work in the hatchery segment. She spoke on the various disease curing organisms in shrimps such as White Spot, While faecal disease, EMS,EHP etc. Speaking on controlling EHP, she said that the the farmers should ensure that they only stock post larvae which are at least 10mm in length and suggested the ideal PL size for Indian scenario. She said that the farmers should take care to see that the coefficient of variation of sie between the PL that is purchased from the hatcheries areless thatn one.

Speaking on the efficacy of the product Dr.M.Rajalekshmi explained the reason for formulating Hydro SORB She said that the ideal transparency level for optimum shrimp culture is between 25-35cm by reducing the suspended particulate matter and controlling excess phytoplankton density. She added that the combination of silicates(zeolite) and patented plant extracts would ensure that water transparency levels are brought under control.

Following are the unique features of HydroSORB that makes it the most preferred solution for turbidity management in pond

  • A combination of silicates with Plant extract.
  • Have High Cation Exchange Capacity
  • Clean Pond Bottom and Increases the Water Transparency by 4cm
  • Boost Photosynthesis process and lessen variation in DO Level
  • Control the Micro algae bloom and Toxic Gases in water
