CIFRI CONDUCTS PROGRAMME ON WETLAND FISHERIES MANAGEMENT

A five day (18-22 June 2018) exposure visit cum training programme on Fisheries management in wetlands of Bihar was conducted by the Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute (CIFRI), Barackpore. The training targeted the fishers and officials of Rulhi and Kararia maun , to instill interest on wetland fisheries.

The Programme was inaugurated by Dr. B. K. Das, Director CIFRI. Dr. V. R. Suresh and Dr. B. P. Mohanty, Principal Scientists of the institute interacted and discussed on the various issues in wetland fisheries and suggested ways to improve fisheries development and their livelihood improvement through CIFRI technological interventions. The fishers were trained on various aspects of Wetland Fisheries Management including pen and cage culture practices, feeding protocols, fish disease management, fisheries governance etc. Two field visits were also arranged for the participants for exposure and knowledge about the wetland fisheries management and marketing systems.
